A Finnish scoring talent joins Bowling Green's growing Canadian Hockey League pipeline.

Bowling Green State University has acquired yet another Canadian Hockey League player. This time, Finnish born Onni Kalto is headed to the Falcons. Kalto finished his first season of junior hockey with the OHL's Oshawa Generals. His 21 goals in 62 games marked him fourth among his teammates.

Before heading to North America, Kalto played for TPS U20 in his home country of Finland. TPS U20 competes in the U20 SM-sarja, the top Finnish junior league. Kalto has also represented Finland during the past two World Junior Championships. Most recently in 2026, Kalto earned one goal in five games.

This is just the latest Canadian Hockey League product to commit to Bowling Green State University. Within the past month, the Falcons have secured the talents of brothers Hayden and Hudson Martin as well as USports transfer Teague Patton. The long term impacts of this pattern to Bowling Green and NCAA Hockey as a whole are too early to tell, but the Falcons clearly have found a bubbling spring to draw players in from.
