Well, this is a first.

Since the Colorado Rockies moved to New Jersey in 1982, there has never been an NHL season where the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers and New York Islanders have all been out of the playoffs.

Until now. While half of the league chases the Stanley Cup, the lights in the three New York-area teams will be dim until the fall.
