The Carolina Hurricanes only hoisted the Stanley Cup a few short months ago, but fans will have the chance to relive the biggest moments on screen.
The Carolina Hurricanes finally had their moment when they hoisted the 2025-26 Stanley Cup, and now fans can relive the moments that led to it.
The NHL announced in a press release that the Hurricanes' triumphant Stanley Cup Championship Film will premiere exclusively on ESPN2 on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. ET.
The one-hour film will also be available in Canada on Sportsnet and the NHL's YouTube channel on Sept. 28. The NHL has released the trailer on its YouTube channel.
The film will highlight several elements that led the Hurricanes to hoist the Stanley Cup. It will feature 2026 Conn Smythe winner Jordan Staal, game-changing coach Rod Brind’Amour, and other Hurricanes players, including Sebastian Aho, Brandon Bussi, Taylor Hall, Jordan Martinook, and Jaccob Slavin.
In their quest for the Cup, the Hurricanes were dominant. They swept the Ottawa Senators and the Philadelphia Flyers in the first two rounds before taking care of the Montreal Canadiens in five.
But the film won't focus on their run; it will focus on the magic we saw in the Final. They were stacked up against the veteran-driven core of the Vegas Golden Knights, but overcame their heavy, physical style to defeat them in six games.
Throughout the playoffs, the Hurricanes didn't have one player who particularly stood out, which is what made their run so special. Jackson Blake led the team in points, but Taylor Hall, Nikolaj Ehlers, and Logan Stankoven were all within close range.
Staal tied an NHL record for the longest goal streak to begin a Stanley Cup Final by scoring in five consecutive games.
There was also a dramatic twist: Frederik Andersen suffered an injury and had to be replaced by Brandon Bussi, who closed out the final three games with an impressive .931 save percentage.
According to the press release: "The film features action-packed highlights from the electric matchup, including come-from-behind wins, overtime thrillers and unlikely heroes, interspersed with commentary from the players and coaches.
"It all culminates in Carolina’s long-awaited victory, where locker room access and emotional testimonies convey the utter joy of a dream come true for the Hurricanes – raising the Stanley Cup."
