How will his career turn out?

The NHL Draft is in just a few days and the Anaheim Ducks will have to make their first round selection pretty quickly. The team holds the 2nd overall pick in the draft and will have the majority of players eligible for their choice. Many people are expecting Anaheim to select center Adam Fantilli from the University of Michigan with their pick.

Fantilli would be a great pickup for Anaheim and give them a potential superstar on the roster for the first time in a long-time. He was special in college, dominating the collegiate ranks. Fantilli would provide the Ducks with a player with high IQ and room to grow on his already impressive game.

Scott Wheeler of The Athletic did comparisons for some of the top players in the draft and compared Fantilli to two legit star players in the league. Wheeler said that Fantilli was a cross between Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars and Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets.

If Fantilli becomes anything like either of these two players then the Ducks will have successfully gotten themselves a good player. Assuming that they select him of course.

Both Benn and Scheifele have established themselves as top centers in the NHL. They can both score efficiently and have good passing skills as well. For example, last season Benn scored 33 goals and had 45 assists. Scheifele himself scored 42 goals and had 26 assists. So clearly the potential to becoming a great player in the NHL is there for Fantilli if the comparison is correct.

No matter what the Ducks do with the pick, it should be a win for them. But Fantilli would be a legit selection due to his true upside. He would be a game changer for Anaheim and luckily, we only have to wait a few more days to see what happens.
