The NHL announced that they have created a new podcast that dives into unique and significant milestones from the history of the league. It's called NHL Backstory and the first ever episode deals with the creation of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and how the Disney movies inspired the team to be formed. Episode One named Quack … Quack … Quack, debuted on June 11 in collaboration of the ESPN documentary release Once Upon a Time Anaheim.

Host Arda Öcal talks about how a screenwriter took his love for the game of hocket and turned it into a Disney masterpiece. Walt Disney Company then was awarded a hockey team a few weeks after the movies release. The Mighty Ducks took the league by storm, going to a Stanley Cup Finals in 2003 and then ultimately the franchise winning it all in 2007 as just the Anaheim Ducks.

NHL Backstory is a perfect companion for hockey fans like me, who love to research unique moments, like this one, to get more insight into the NHL’s rich history,” said Öcal. “It is a crazy story and at first glance, even those in the boardroom were not prepared for its ultimate success. I also hope the podcast and documentary address one of the deepest secrets in film – the fact that the Flying V is actually offside and the Mighty Ducks teams in the movie got away with it!”
