It's time for the Bruins to change things up.

During Feb. 8's contest against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Boston Bruins had a 3-1 lead with less than five minutes left in the second period. It looked like they could pull away with two much-needed points against a tough Golden Knights club, but in the end, they choked the game away again.

The Bruins allowed three unanswered goals to finish the game, including Tomas Hertl's game-winner with 1:10 left in the third period. This was the second game in a row where the Bruins gave up a lead in the third period and ended up with zero points.

With this latest brutal loss, the Bruins now have a 27-24-6 record and are still sixth in the Atlantic Division standings. While they are close to division rivals like the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, and Detroit Red Wings, they have also played more games than each of them. Thus, their playoff hopes are not looking fantastic right now.

With the way the Bruins are playing, it is clear that they are due to make changes to their group. They were expected to be far better than they are this season, and this roster just has not been cutting it.

Bruins president Cam Neely said last month that the team could retool its roster depending on how it plays before the 2025 NHL trade deadline. GM Don Sweeney hinted at a similar message while recently speaking to reporters as well.

The Bruins still have not broken through and have lost five out of their last ten games in regulation. Clearly, this team's roster needs changes, as this group isn't getting it done.

The Bruins have several players creating chatter in the rumor mill, like Brad Marchand, Brandon Carlo, Trent Frederic, Morgan Geekie, and Justin Brazeau.

It will be interesting to see what moves the Bruins make by March 7's trade deadline, but it would be surprising if some changes are not made.
