The Athletic has released their latest mock draft for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, which we here at The Hockey News Boston Bruins would recommend all fans to check out.

2025 NHL Staff Mock Draft 2.0: Schaefer goes No. 1, but where do Misa, Desnoyers and Hagens land? 2025 NHL Staff Mock Draft 2.0: Schaefer goes No. 1, but where do Misa, Desnoyers and Hagens land? Just over two weeks from draft day, we reconvened our staff of NHL reporters to make selections for the entire first round.

When it comes to the Bruins, The Athletic's writers predicted that the Original Six club will select Jake O'Brien with their seventh-overall pick.

It is easy to understand why The Athletic sees the Bruins taking O'Brien if he is available once they are on the clock. As we discussed here at THN Boston, he would be a big-time prospect for the Bruins to land, especially when noting that they need serious help at center.

Bruins Should Have Clear Target With 7th Overall Pick Bruins Should Have Clear Target With 7th Overall Pick The 2025 NHL Draft Lottery took place on May 5, and it was a rough night for the Boston Bruins. The Bruins got the worst outcome possible, dropping from fifth to seventh for the upcoming draft. There was a 13.5% chance this would occur, and it unfortunately did for the Original Six club.

Interestingly, The Athletic's Fluto Shinzawa has the Bruins making a notable trade to land another first-round pick in the mock draft. He predicts that the Bruins will deal forwards Pavel Zacha and Marat Khusnutdinov to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for the 15th overall pick of this year's draft and forward Nils Hoglander.

With the 15th overall pick from this proposed trade, The Athletic has the Bruins selecting defenseman Jackson Smith.

Smith is a 6-foot-3 left-shot defenseman who is viewed as among the top prospects in this year's class. In 68 games this season with the Tri-City Americans of the WHL, he recorded 11 goals and 54 points.

Would you like to see the Bruins select O'Brien with their seventh-overall pick? Furthermore, how would you feel if the Bruins dealt Zacha to Vancouver to land another first-rounder? Let your thoughts be known in the comments.
