Boston Bruins left-winger Brad Marchand had a milestone within a milestone on Tuesday.

Not only was it his 1,000th NHL game, he was also the seventh player in Bruins history to score a point in his 1,000th game.

He scored two assists in the 3-2 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The 35-year-old veteran, who became the team's 27th captain in September, was given a standing ovation after a video tribute was shown with career highlights.

He started playing for the Bruins in 2009, at the age of 21, and has never played for any other NHL team.

Marchand helped them win the Stanley Cup in their historic 2011 victory against the Vancouver Canucks, scoring two goals and an assist while doing so, had an astonishing 100-point season in 2018-19, and came close to his peak goal-scoring that season too at 36, and has shown his physicality with 908 career hits and 21 fights.

He has also been an NHL All-Star six times, and won the Bruins' Elizabeth C. Dufresne Trophy for best home game player a whopping five times between 2012 and 2021.

The most recent player to notch a point in his 1,000th game was veteran Czech centreman David Krejci, who, on Jan. 16, 2023, notched three assists in a 6-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers

Former centreman and team captain Patrice Bergeron was lucky to do it with two goals on Feb. 5, 2019, in a 3-1 win against the New York Islanders.

Like his succeeding captain and longtime linemate Marchand, Bergeron never played for any team besides the Bruins, and played for them for 20 years, first drafted in 2003.

Historically, Jean Ratelle notched a point in his 1,000th game with a goal and an assist on March 23, 1977.

Johnny Bucyk had the most points of any in his 1,000th game at two goals and four assists on Dec. 10, 1970.
