A former Edmonton Oiler is hitting the waiver wire.
The NHL waiver wire has a former Edmonton Oilers forward on it today, as the New York Rangers have placed Tyler Pitlick on it.
Pitlick, 32, signed a one-year, $787,500 contract with the Rangers during this past offseason. Since then, he has appeared in 34 games with the Blueshirts, where he has one goal, four points, 84 hits, and a minus-6 rating. While he has been impactful with his physicality, offensively, he has struggled, and that likely has played a role in this waiver placement.
Teams looking for a bit more grit and forward depth could consider taking a flier on Pitlick. As noted above, his cap hit is quite low. With that, he has a good amount of NHL experience, having played in 420 games over 10 seasons.
The Oilers selected Pitlick back in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft with the 31st overall pick. Following being drafted, he appeared in 58 games over three seasons as an Oiler, posting 11 goals and three helpers.
