After a big summer, the Boston Bruins are entering next season with pretty high expectations. On paper, they still look like one of the top teams in the Atlantic Division.

The Bruins have some players with a bit extra to prove next season. Let's discuss three of them now.

    Fabian Lysell

Fabian Lysell has a golden opportunity to make the Bruins' roster this upcoming season finally. After losing Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen to the Vancouver Canucks in free agency and failing to sign replacements, there are spots in the Bruins' lineup to fight for. The 2RW spot is the most notable, and Lysell is a candidate for it.

Lysell, 21, will need to impress at training camp and prove that he is NHL-ready to help his chances of making Boston's roster. The 2021 first-round pick is coming off a strong 2023-24 season with the Providence Bruins, posting 15 goals and 50 points in 56 games. With numbers like these, the skilled youngster could make the jump, but he must convince the Bruins that he is ready to.

    Elias Lindholm

Elias Lindholm was a longtime target for the Bruins, and they finally landed him this summer. After securing a seven-year, $54.25 million contract with the Bruins, the expectation is that he will be Boston's first-line center.

Lindholm, 29, is coming off a down 2023-24 season, recording 15 goals and 44 points in 75 games split between the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks. He will need to prove that this was a fluke and get his numbers back up playing on a line with David Pastrnak. When noting that he had five goals and 10 points in 13 playoff games, there should be optimism about the prospect of him bouncing back. He also had 42 goals and 82 points just back in 2021-22.

    Joonas Korpisalo

The Bruins acquired Joonas Korpisalo from the Ottawa Senators as one of the pieces from the Linus Ullmark trade. The 30-year-old is coming off a disastrous 2023-24 season, recording a 21-26-4 record, a 3.27 GAA, and a .890 SV%. His goal will be to prove that he can bounce back in Boston.

Korpisalo is on the books until the end of the 2027-28 season, carrying a $3 million cap hit. With that kind of money and term, the Bruins need Korpisalo to turn things around, or his contract will be a rough one. He has the potential to, as he posted an 18-14-4 record, a 914 SV%, and a 2.87 GAA in 39 games split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings in 2022-23. If he can get back to that form, he would be a strong backup for the B's.
