The Boston Bruins are now currently 50 days away from their season opener against the Washington Capitals. With this, hockey season is undoubtedly starting to get closer, and Boston fans will soon get to see the Bruins' new-looking roster on the ice.

With the Bruins' season opener now being 50 days, let's continue our series and take a look at each player who has worn No. 50 for the Original Six club. Interestingly, every player on this list only sported No. 50 for the Bruins for one season. Furthermore, the names on this list can all certainly be classified as forgotten Bruins.

Nevertheless, let's look at each player who has worn No. 50 for the Bruins now.

    Clark Donatelli, LW (1991-92)

The first player to wear No. 50 for the Bruins was Clark Donatelli during the 1991-92 season. However, he did not wear the number very long for Boston, as he played in just 10 games for the Original Six club that campaign. During them, he recorded one assist, 22 penalty minutes, and a minus-8 rating. This would be the last time Donatelli played at the NHL level.

Donatelli spent the entirety of the 1992-93 season down in the AHL with the Providence Bruins, posting 12 goals, 14 assists, and 26 points in 57 games. From there, he spent the next three seasons in the IHL before hanging up the skates after the 1995-96 campaign.

    Chris Taylor, C (1998-99)

Chris Taylor would be the next Bruin to sport No. 50 for the Bruins, as he did during the 1998-99 season. In 37 games with the Bruins that campaign, the Stratford, Ontario native posted three goals, five assists, eight points, and a minus-3 rating. He also played in 21 games for Providence that season, recording six goals and 17 points in 21 games.

Taylor's time with the Bruins came to an end after the 1998-99 campaign when he signed with the Buffalo Sabres. From there, he played his final four NHL seasons with the Sabres before spending the majority of the final stages of his career in the AHL with the Rochester Americans.

    Ben Guite, RW (2005-06)

The next Bruin to wear No. 50 was Ben Guite during the 2005-06 season. However, he played just one game for Boston with it, where he recorded zero points and two shots on goal. His time with the Bruins organization would end after that season.

Following his time with the Bruins, Guite spent three seasons with the Colorado Avalanche before finishing his NHL career with the Nashville Predators in 2009-10. In 175 career NHL games over five seasons, he posted 19 goals, 26 assists, and 45 points.

    Jonathan Sigalet, D (2006-07)

Defenseman Jonathan Sigalet would be the next Bruin to sport No. 50 for the Original Six club. However, it was for a very short time, as he played in just one game with the Black and Gold during the 2006-07 season. During it, he had zero points, four penalty minutes, and a minus-2 rating.

Sigalet's one game with the Bruins would be the only NHL contest he would play in during his entire career. The left-shot defenseman would play the next four seasons after 2006-07 exclusively in the AHL before spending the rest of his career overseas. He spent four seasons in the KHL and seven seasons in the SHL before retiring after the 2020-21 season.

    Jonas Gustavsson, G (2015-16)

Out of all the players on this list, goaltender Jonas Gustavsson made the most impact for the Bruins. The 6-foot-4 goaltender proved to be a solid backup goalie for the Bruins during his time with the club. In 24 games with the Bruins during the 2015-16 campaign, he recorded an 11-9-1 record, a .908 save percentage, a 2.72 goals-against average, and one shutout. When noting that Gustavsson had to earn a contract with the Bruins through a professional tryout (PTO), he certainly gave them good value as their backup.

However, Gustavsson would play in just seven more career NHL games during the 2016-17 campaign with the Edmonton Oilers following his lone season as a Bruin. From there, he would spend the last three years of his professional career from 2017-18 to 2019-20 in the SHL with Linköping HC before retiring.

    Brendan Gaunce, C (2019-20)

Brendan Gaunce is the most recent player to wear No. 50 for the Bruins, as he sported it during the 2019-20 season. In one game for Boston during that campaign, he recorded one assist, two penalty minutes, and a plus-1 rating. This would be his lone game as a Boston Bruin.

While Gaunce did not get too many opportunities on the Bruins' NHL roster, he has made appearances at the NHL level in each of the last four seasons. In 12 games this past campaign with the Minnesota Wild, the 2012 first-round pick recorded one assist, 18 hits, and a minus-4 rating.

Former Bruins Winger Still A Free Agent Former Bruins Winger Still A Free Agent With it now being the middle of August, things have slowed down around the NHL since July 1. While this is the case, there are still some interesting unrestricted free agents (UFAs) left who could sign professional tryouts (PTOs) before training camps start next month.
