The Boston Bruins are currently searching for their next full-time head coach. Interim head coach Joe Sacco is still in the mix, but the Bruins are weighing all of their options before making their decision.

One name who has floated around as a potential option for the Bruins is University of Denver head coach David Carle. However, that possibility can now be forgotten.

The University of Denver has announced that Carle has signed a multi-year contract extension to remain with the school. According to Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli, Carle generated interest from multiple NHL clubs before signing his new extension.

Carle could have been a nice hire for the Bruins' head coaching job, as he has had plenty of success at the NCAA level. He has led the University of Denver to two national championships and has a 179-74-17 record since becoming their bench boss. With this, it is understandable that Denver worked hard to keep him around.

While Carle is officially no longer a potential option for the Bruins, there are still several notable coaches looking for gigs right now. Among the mix are Rick Tocchet, Peter Laviolette, Jay Woodcroft, Gerard Gallant, John Tortorella, and Dave Hakstol.
