The Boston Bruins might have romped the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday inside PPG Paints Arena, but the win did end up coming with a major cost.
Star rookie James Hagens exited the dominant win in the third period with an apparent injury after a cross-check to his back from Sam Girard.
Hagens immediately pulled up, and worked his way to the bench, where he talked with team doctors before exiting down the tunnel for a deeper look.
The Bruins did not have an update postgame.
Hagens, 20, has 6 goals and 12 points through 16 games this season with the Bruins.
His 12 points lead all rookies, while his 6 goals are tied for second, trailing Roman Kantserov's 8 for the top spot.
The Bruins have two days off before Sunday's clash with the Florida Panthers inside TD Garden on Sunday afternoon.
