The Boston Bruins are looking to strengthen their forward group this offseason. Their two top objectives are adding a top-six center and a top-six winger.
With this, it is not surprising that the Bruins are continuing to be connected to Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas. In a recent column for The Athletic, Pierre LeBrun reported that the Bruins are one of the several teams expressing interest in the Hurricanes star.
Necas, 25, has been viewed as a potential trade target for the Bruins since word came out that the Hurricanes were shopping him. It makes sense, as they need help on the wing, and he would certainly provide them with that.
Martin NecasIf the Bruins acquired Necas, he would be an obvious fit in their top six and could work well with Brad Marchand. He is also an impactful playmaker, so he would significantly improve their power play.
The Hurricanes are expected to browse the trade market for goaltenders this summer, and they were interested in Bruins netminder Linus Ullmark this season. Perhaps there could be a good match between the two clubs because of it.
In 77 games this season, Necas had 24 goals and 53 points. Yet, he also has the potential to do more, as he had 28 goals and 71 points just back in 2022-23.
