Bruins' Brad Marchand Gets Big Praise From Canada Coach

Team Canada coach Jon Cooper had some kind words to say about Brad Marchand.

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand is currently representing Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off. During Feb. 15's matchup against Team USA, he was even an alternate captain for Canada, with superstar defenseman Cale Makar out due to an illness.

When WEEI's Scott McLaughlin asked Team Canada head coach Jon Cooper how it has been coaching Marchand, the Tampa Bay Lightning bench boss had nothing but praise for No. 63.

"Love him. I can't say enough great things about him," Cooper said about Marchand. "Energy. Passion. He's one of the elder statesmen on this team, and he seems to find the fountain of youth anytime he comes into one of these tournaments. We've got Sid and Doughty, but Marchy's right there. So, those are the guys kind of bringing all of those young guys under their wing, and there's been nobody better at it than him... His heart is the shape of a maple leaf. It's awesome being around him."

It is unsurprising that Cooper is enjoying his time coaching Marchand. Not only is he a star player, but he is also well-known for his marvelous leadership and high energy. It also doesn't hurt that he scored a great goal in Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off opener against Team Sweden.

It will be fascinating to see how Marchand performs in Canada's massive Feb. 17 contest against Team Finland from here.
