Boston Bruins defenseman Parker Wotherspoon proved to be a nice surprise for the Original Six club last season. The longtime AHL defenseman not only cemented himself a spot on the Bruins' roster this past season but also performed well in the process. Because of this, the expectation is that the Surrey, British Columbia native will once again have a spot on Boston's roster this upcoming season.

In a career-high 41 NHL games last season for the Bruins, Wotherspoon had eight assists, 67 blocks, 84 hits, and a plus-6 rating. Overall, he performed well as a depth defender for the Bruins, especially considering that he played both sides. In addition, the 6-foot-1 defender's gritty style of play also helped him make an impact on the NHL squad.

Wotherspoon also gained enough trust from Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery that he was dressed for 10 postseason games, where he had two assists.

Now, after playing in his most NHL action last season, Wotherspoon is more adjusted to the sport's most challenging league. Because of this, the 27-year-old defender has the potential to take another step forward in his development.

Heading into next season, the expectation is that Wotherspoon will be the Bruins' seventh defender. However, when noting how often injuries occur and that Wotherspoon can play both sides, he will get his chances to shine in the linemate.

Nevertheless, after a solid first season with the Bruins, Wotherspoon will now look to make an even more significant impact in 2024-25. If he does, he will make an already good Bruins defensive group even better.
