After losing several notable players last offseason, the Boston Bruins were expected by many to take a serious step back in 2023-24. However, they instead were once again one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, finishing with a 47-20-15 record and 109 points.

A significant reason for the Bruins' success this past season was because multiple of their players exceeded expectations. Among the most notable was Morgan Geekie.

The Bruins signed Geekie to a two-year, $4 million contract during the 2023 NHL Offseason after the Seattle Kraken elected not to give him a qualifying offer. This is a decision that the Kraken must feel some regret over, as Geekie took a big step forward in 2023-24. In 76 games, the 6-foot-3 center recorded new career highs with 17 goals, 22 assists, 39 points, and 137 hits.

Overall, Geekie had a strong season for the Bruins, but the potential for him to hit an even higher level in 2024-25 is there. At just 26 years old, there is still time for him to take another step forward.

Geekie also has the potential to have a more significant role next season. With the departures of Jake DeBrusk and Danton Heinen this summer, the second-line right wing spot is up for grabs. Geekie is viewed as among the Bruins' top candidates for the role. However, at a minimum, he should still be a crucial part of the Bruins' top nine.

Nevertheless, after his impressive season, Geekie is a clear player to watch this upcoming campaign. The potential for him to at least hit the 20-goal and 45-point marks is there if he stays healthy.
