The Bruins are reportedly progressing on a new deal for their top goalie prospect.

Boston Bruins top goalie prospect Brandon Bussi will become a restricted free agent if the Original Six club does not sign him to a new deal by July 1. However, it seems that the Bruins could prevent this from happening.

According to Mark Divver, the Bruins and Bussi are making progress on a new contract. He also shared that he believes the new deal "will be squared away soon."

Getting Bussi re-signed is a big priority for the Bruins this summer. With star goalie Linus Ullmark expected to be traded, Bussi has a real shot of becoming the Bruins' backup netminder for next season.

Bussi, 25, has been nothing but excellent since joining the Providence Bruins late in the 2021-22 season. In his first full season with the AHL squad in 2022-23, he had a .924 SV% and was named to both the All-Rookie Team and Atlantic Division All-Star Team. He then followed it up with a solid .913 SV% in 41 games this season for Providence.

It will be intriguing to see what kind of deal Bussi gets from here. It is clear that the New York native is progressing magnificently in Providence, and he should get some reps with the NHL squad in 2024-25 because of it.
