As we continue to inch closer to the trade deadline, this Bruins forward's trade market should only keep heating up.

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

It has been a rough season for the Boston Bruins. After entering the campaign with high expectations, the Original Six club is currently below the playoff line and has played more games than all the teams they are trying to catch.

With this, there is a real possibility that the Bruins will sell off some of their players at the trade deadline. One Bruins forward, in particular, who has been in the rumor mill for almost all of this season is Trent Frederic.

Frederic being the subject of trade speculation is entirely understandable. He is a pending unrestricted free agent and could easily be a player the Bruins part ways with at the deadline. This is especially true if they don't view Frederic as a long-term part of their plans and still don't have a playoff spot nearing March 7.

Given that Frederic is a 6-foot-3 forward who plays an incredibly heavy game, trade interest in his services should only pick up the closer we get to the deadline. Contenders love gritty players when the games get tough during the post-season, and Frederic provides just that.

Another notable reason why Frederic should generate plenty of interest is because of his past offensive success. During this past season, he set career highs with 18 goals, 22 assists, and 40 points in 82 games. This was after he had 17 goals and 31 points in 79 games in 2022-23. While the offense hasn't been there this season for Frederic, there is always a chance that he could bounce back with a change of scenery.

It will be very intriguing to see if the Bruins end up trading Frederic before the deadline. Playoff teams often pay extra for players like him, so it will certainly be something GM Don Sweeney needs to consider.
