In 27 games, the 30-year-old sported an 11-10-3 record, 2.90 goals-against average, a .893 save percentage, and a career-high three shutouts.
Overall, while Korpisalo had some tough moments during the season, he served well as the Bruins' backup goalie. However, although this is the case, it's apparent that the 2012 third-round pick does not love being in that role.
While speaking to reporters, including Boston.com's Conor Ryan, Korpisalo made it clear that he wants to start more games.
"I don't think there's any goalie in the league who's comfortable playing 20-25 games," Korpisalo said. "I'm gonna push for more games, for sure."
Korpisalo wanting more starts is easy to understand, but at the same time, the likelihood of that happening with the Bruins is low. Although Jeremy Swayman had a down 2024-25 season, he is the club's clear starting goalie and locked up until the end of the 2031-32 campaign. Thus, a path to Korpisalo being more than a backup in Boston is simply not there.
Alas, it will be interesting to see if anything happens between the Bruins and Korpisalo this off-season. The veteran goalie is under contract until the end of the 2027-28 season.
