Boston Bruins forward Morgan Geekie was one of the team's rare bright spots from the 2024-25 season. The 26-year-old forward hit another level for the Original Six club, setting new career highs with 33 goals, 24 assists, and 57 points in 77 games. This included finishing the campaign with an 11-game point streak, during which he posted nine goals and 10 assists.
After his amazing season, Geekie is now due for his next contract as a restricted free agent. He is undoubtedly due for a significant raise from his current $2 million cap hit, but the retooling Bruins will now need to decide if they are willing to give it to him.
However, if Geekie has it his way, he will be sticking around with the Bruins.
While speaking to reporters, including Boston.com's Conor Ryan, Geekie made it abundantly clear that he would like to remain a Bruin for a long time:
"I'd love to stay as long as I can," Geekie said.
Given how well Geekie performed this season, the Bruins should be interested in keeping him around. This is especially so when noting that he formed incredible chemistry with Bruins superstar David Pastrnak as the campaign rolled on.
Nevertheless, it is clear that the Bruins have a big decision to make with Geekie. It will be interesting to see if he gets his wish and remains a Bruin for the long term from here.
