This Boston Bruins prospect is starting to create some buzz.

The Boston Bruins do not get the most attention when it comes to their prospect pool. While this is the case, they do have some solid youngsters in their system, like Fabian Lysell, Matthew Poitras, Georgii Merkulov, and Dean Letourneau. They also have some under-the-radar youngsters who could become impactful NHL players later down the road, too.
One specific Bruins prospect who could be a big suprise in their system is defenseman Jackson Edward.
Edward, 20, was selected by the Bruins with the 200th overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. While not too many seventh-round picks generate a lot of excitement, Edward has been starting to create chatter amongst fans. It is understandable, as he has the tools to potentially become an NHL player later down the road.
Edward is coming off a strong season with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), posting career highs with seven goals, 23 assists, 30 points, and a plus-43 rating. Overall, the 6-foot-2 defender not only took his offense to a new level but was steady defensively. This naturally has made him a more interesting prospect in Boston's system.
However, Edward is most well-known for his extremely tenacious style of play, as his 202 penalty minutes over the last two OHL seasons effectively display. With the Bruins looking to get back to being a tougher team, having a big, mean defenseman like Edward in their system is certainly not a bad thing.
Edward's goal in 2024-25 will be to continue to head in the right direction with his development. The Newmarket, Ontario native has the tools to potentially become a shutdown defender later down the road for the B's. It will be fun to see what kind of campaign he puts together from here.
