Could the Bruins look to strike a deal with the Rangers this off-season?
The Boston Bruins could use the trade market to boost their roster this off-season. This is especially so when noting that this year's group of pending unrestricted free agents (UFAs) is not the strongest.
When looking at the likely sellers of the off-season, the New York Rangers stand out as an interesting potential trading partner for the Bruins. Multiple of their players are viewed as top trade candidates right now.
Because of this, let's look at three Rangers who would have the potential to be strong additions to the Bruins' roster.
Alexis Lafreniere, LW/RW
The Bruins need another skilled winger in their top six. Because of this, Alexis Lafreniere could be an intriguing forward for the Bruins to add to their roster. The 2020 first-overall pick had a solid season for the Blueshirts in 2025-26, posting 24 goals and 57 points in 82 games.
However, Lafreniere notably ended the year on a high note, recording 16 goals and 37 points in his final 40 games. The 24-year-old winger hit a new level in the second half of the year and could be worth taking a flier on. Yet, he has a $7.45 million cap hit through 2031-32, so he would be both an expensive and long-term addition for the Bruins if brought in.
Vincent Trocheck, C
The Bruins have been connected to Vincent Trocheck before, and it is not difficult to understand why. They need to improve down the middle, and landing Trocheck would provide them with a high-impact top-six center.
While Trocheck would not necessarily give the Bruins a true answer to their 1C problem, he would still give their top six a boost. He would also provide them a clear option for both their power play and penalty kill because of his strong all-around play. In 67 games last season, he had 16 goals, 53 points, and 193 hits. He is signed through 2028-29, carrying a $5.625 million cap hit.
Braden Schneider, D
Adding a right-shot defenseman should be one of the Bruins' top goals of the summer, and they have an intriguing option to consider in Braden Schneider. The 2020 first-round pick would offer them with a potential upgrade for their right side over players like Henri Jokiharju and pending UFA Andrew Peeke if acquired.
At just 24 years old, Schneider is also still young enough that he could hit a new level with the right organization. Due to this, he would be a solid young defenseman for the Bruins to take a chance on. In 82 games this past season for New York, the 6-foot-4 blueliner posted two goals, 18 points, 141 blocks, and 163 hits.
