With it now being August, we should start to see teams sign remaining unrestricted free agents (UFAs) to professional tryouts (PTOs). When looking at the Boston Bruins' current roster, they certainly could go down this route again, as there is no question that they could still use more skill.
When looking at the UFAs left, one who undoubtedly stands out as a potential PTO candidate for the Bruins is winger Victor Olofsson.
After the season Olofsson just had with the Vegas Golden Knights, it is a bit surprising to still see him available for the taking. After posting just seven goals and 15 points with the Buffalo Sabres in 2023-24, Olofsson bounced back with Vegas this past season, recording 15 goals, 29 points, and a plus-17 rating in 56 games. With numbers like these, he would have the potential to give the Bruins more secondary scoring, which is a serious need for them right now.
Olofsson has also shown many times during his career that he can be an impactful offensive contributor, as he has scored 20 goals and recorded 40 points three times during his seven-year career. With this, he could be a nice player for the Bruins to take a look at on a PTO or even a one-year contract. He would offer them another option to consider for their middle six and power play if invited to their training camp, which would not be a bad thing in the slightest.
