Bruins Have Massive Trade Decision To Make

Which direction will the Bruins go down at the deadline?

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

It has been an up-and-down year for the Boston Bruins. After entering the season with high expectations, they have a 22-19-5 record and hold the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference. However, the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, and Detroit Red Wings are right behind them and have each played two fewer games.

Due to this, for the first time in a long time, the Bruins are not a guaranteed playoff team. With this, Bruins president Cam Neely was transparent and recently noted that the Bruins could retool their roster at the trade deadline this year. However, he also did not shut the door on being buyers, but that would ultimately depend on how the Bruins play from here.

With this, there is no question that the Bruins have a big decision to make with their roster. The Original Six club has been buyers for several years now, but we could very well see them be sellers if they keep struggling.

If the Bruins decide to retool their group, they have pending UFAs like Justin Brazeau, Trent Frederic, Parker Wotherspoon, and Cole Koepke, who could get moved. Perhaps they could even consider moving some of their complementary players with term to switch up their group.

Yet, if the Bruins end up buying, their biggest goal should be to add a top-six scoring winger. If not that, a top-six center should be on their radar, as they need help down the middle badly. However, those are harder to find during the season.

It will be very interesting to see which direction the Bruins go down from here, but it is clear they have a major decision to make.
