The Bruins should look to make a splash this summer.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

The Boston Bruins have several contracts coming off the books this offseason. As a result, they will have plenty of cap space to work with and will be in a position to make some notable moves.

One area that the Bruins should look to improve this summer is the left side of their defense. Matt Grzelcyk and Derek Forbort each have expiring contracts and may not be back. The Bruins would benefit from upgrading that side, and they should consider targeting Ottawa Senators star Jakob Chychrun during the offseason.

The Bruins were previously in the mix for Chychrun's services before the Arizona Coyotes traded him to the Senators. While they missed out on him then, they should seriously contemplate making a push for him again this offseason. The Senators are expected to listen to offers for him again.

Chychrun, 25, would be a significant addition to the Bruins' top four if acquired. Along with that, he would improve their power play and would be an option for their penalty kill because of his steady defensive play.

We must wait and see if the Bruins look to add Chychrun this summer. However, considering that they have had interest in him before and that they could have some holes on their left side, it is something to pay attention to during the offseason.
