The Bruins could be adding to their blue line.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

It is not a secret that the Boston Bruins are looking to improve their blue line before the trade deadline passes. They have been connected to multiple defensemen over the last several weeks because of it, but we now may have a better understanding of who they might end up landing.

This morning (March 7), NHL insider Darren Dreger reported that the Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Tampa Bay Lightning are all expressing interest in Washington Capitals defenseman Joel Edmundson. With that, he noted that the Bruins "seemed to have the inside track" as of last night.

Edmundson, 30, would be a nice addition to the Bruins' roster. While he is not a big-name defenseman like Noah Hanifin or Jakob Chychrun, he still provides value because of his steady defensive play and immense physicality.

Edmundson also offers excellent versatility, as he can play both the left and right sides. As a result, he would be a nice fit on either side of the Bruins' bottom pairing. He would also give them another impactful penalty-killer.

In 44 games this season, Edmundson has one goal, six points, and 59 hits.

Update: Edmundson has since been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
