After striking out on Noah Hanifin, the Bruins need to target this Senators defenseman.

The Boston Bruins were one of Noah Hanifin's top suitors before his move to the Vegas Golden Knights. While it is rough that the Bruins missed out on the Massachusetts native, they have another star defenseman from the Ottawa Senators who they should be targeting - Jakob Chychrun.

With Hanifin and many other top trade target defensemen off the board, Chychrun's trade market has been heating up. Teams like the Tampa Bay Lightning, Philadelphia Flyers, and Detroit Red Wings have been linked to him, but at this juncture, the Bruins have not.

Yet, when noting that Chychrun is a high-impact defenseman who would improve the Bruins' top pairing immensely, they should make a serious push for him. Like Hanifin, he plays a steady defensive game but also contributes offensively. As a result, he would be an option for both of their special-team units.

The Bruins were also one of the primary teams connected to Chychrun before the Arizona Coyotes traded him to the Senators. They clearly like the player, and with their left side being weak right now, they should enter the Chychrun sweepstakes before it is too late.

In 60 games this season, Chychrun has nine goals to go along with 31 points.
