Bruins' Jake DeBrusk Played Through Brutal Injury
Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk struggled with consistency during the regular season and picked up a lot criticism because of it. However, his game noticeably improved during the playoffs, as he had a team-leading five goals and 11 points in 13 games.
The reason for DeBrusk's struggles down the stretch has now been revealed.
While speaking to reporters after Game 6's loss, DeBrusk shared that he played through a broken left hand during the final months of the regular season but got healthy before the postseason began.
After getting healthy, there's no question DeBrusk looked more like the player he was during his career-best 2022-23 season. This was especially so against the Panthers, as he had six points in six games in the second round. That's impressive when noting that the Bruins' offense was anemic after Game 1.
The Bruins now have a significant decision to make with DeBrusk. The 2015 first-round pick will become a free agent if they do not re-sign him by July 1. His marvelous postseason play has built a stronger case for him to land a deal, but we will need to wait and see what GM Don Sweeney does from here.
