NHL News: Penguins Sign Former Bruins Defenseman
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Pittsburgh Penguins are signing defenseman Parker Wotherspoon to a two-year, $2 million contract.
With the Bruins looking to switch up their roster, there was an expectation that Wotherspoon would not be brought back by the Original Six club. Now, that has been confirmed, as he is heading to Pittsburgh.
Wotherspoon spent each of the last two seasons with the Bruins, where he served as a depth defenseman. In 96 games with the Original Six club over that span, he recorded one goal, 14 assists, 15 points, 159 hits, and a minus-4 rating.
Wotherspoon played in 55 games for the Bruins during the 2024-25 season, posting one goal, six assists, and a minus-10 rating. Overall, it was a bit of a tough year for the 27-year-old blueliner, and he will now look to bounce back with the Penguins from here.
