The Boston Bruins will face off against the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. The Bruins will be looking to stay hot after winning their last matchup against the Washington Capitals in the shootout.
The Bruins will be looking to take advantage of a Devils team that has struggled this season. At the time of this writing, the Devils have a 33-31-2 record and have the second-fewest points in the Eastern Conference with 68.
The Bruins also have a big opportunity in front of them with their contest against the Devils.
If the Bruins defeat the Devils in any fashion, they would be tied with the Montreal Canadiens with 82 points. It would also guarantee that they would stay ahead of the Detroit Red Wings in the Atlantic Division standings, even if Detroit defeats the Calgary Flames on Monday. With this, a win would be massive for the Black and Gold.
Yet, if the Bruins were to lose against the Devils and the Red Wings defeat the Flames, Detroit would move back ahead of them in the standings. With this, there is no question that the Bruins' contest against the Devils is a very important one for them.
It will be interesting to see if the Bruins can snag two points against the Devils from here. With the Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets being right behind them in the Eastern Conference standings, the Bruins need all the wins they can get.
