The Bruins need to bounce back and pick up a victory against the Canadiens on Tuesday.

The Boston Bruins lost in overtime to the New Jersey Devils by a 4-3 final score on Sunday. While getting a point is better than nothing, this was still a very frustrating loss for the Black and Gold.

The Bruins once had this game under control, as they had a 2-0 lead after the first period. However, Joonas Korpisalo and the Bruins were unable to shut the door before losing in overtime to New Jersey.

With this overtime loss, the Bruins have now fallen back behind the Detroit Red Wings in the Eastern Conference standings. This is undoubtedly less than ideal for the Bruins, but they now have a chance for redemption against the Montreal Canadiens on Monday night.

The Bruins absolutely need to take advantage of the golden opportunity in front of them against the Habs. A win in regulation would be massive for the Bruins, as they would jump ahead of both the Red Wings and Canadiens in the standings. Thus, this is an important contest for the Bruins.

If the Bruins were to lose this game in regulation, the Canadiens would be three points ahead of them. The Red Wings, on the other hand, would stay ahead of the Bruins.

Ultimately, with the playoff race being incredibly close in the Eastern Conference, the Bruins cannot afford to squander golden opportunities like this matchup against the Canadiens. This is especially so when noting that the Columbus Blue Jackets are also only two points behind the Bruins with a game in hand.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Bruins can pick up a win against the Habs from here.
