The Boston Bruins have brought in multiple new players this off-season. Among the most notable is forward Tanner Jeannot, as the Bruins signed the gritty forward to a five-year contract with an average annual value of $3.4 million.

Given Jeannot's offensive struggles in recent years, many were surprised that the Bruins signed him for this much more money and term. Since posting career highs with 24 goals, 17 assists, and 41 points during the 2021-22 campaign with the Nashville Predators, Jeannot has not recorded more than seven goals and 18 points in each of the last three seasons. This includes this past campaign with the Los Angeles Kings, as he had just seven goals and 13 points in 67 games on the year.

Yet, now that the Bruins have handed Jeannot this long-term contract, they will certainly be hoping that the 6-foot-2 winger can improve his offense for them. While expecting him to produce like he did during his career year in 2021-22 may be unrealistic, the Bruins will still be expecting him to provide them with some much-needed secondary scoring. This is especially so if he ends up being used in a top-nine line role, which Daily Faceoff is projecting.

Overall, if Jeannot can be more than just a tough guy for the Bruins, he could end up being a solid addition to their lineup. It will be interesting to see if he can put together a bounce-back year during his first season in Boston from here.

The 2015 first-round pick has been the subject of trade rumors since leading up to the 2025 NHL trade deadline, so he is certainly a player to keep an eye on as the summer continues.
