The Boston Bruins' offense struggled yet again in their latest contest against the New York Rangers. The Bruins lost to the Blueshirts by a 2-1 final score and now have a 20-16-4 record on the season.
This is the second game in a row that the Bruins have scored only once. Their offense is again going ice-cold and now seems like the right time for them to try to spark their club with a recall.
When looking at the Providence Bruins' roster, Matthew Poitras is the clear player who the Bruins should give another shot on the NHL roster.
Poiteas, 20, has thrived with Providence since being sent down to the AHL in November. In 19 games, he has eight goals and 18 points. This includes a seven-game goal streak from Dec. 6 to Dec. 18. He also has 15 points over his last 12 contests.
Matthew PoitrasWith the Bruins needing more offense, what would be the harm in giving the surging Poitras another look on the NHL roster? Trent Frederic has struggled since being moved to the third-line center role and may benefit from being switched back to the wing. Thus, Poitras could be a fit for the 3C role.
Nevertheless, we must wait and see if Poitras gets another chance with the NHL squad soon.
