The Boston Bruins may not be in the playoffs this spring, but their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins, are. Providence is currently playing their first-round series against the Springfield Thunderbirds and are looking to go on a run.

Providence's post-season started off on the wrong foot, as they lost to the Thunderbirds by a 2-1 final score in Game 1 on April 23. However, the AHL Bruins  redeemed themselves in Game 2, defeating Springfield in overtime by a 1-0 final score in Game 2.

Providence goaltender Michael DiPietro was the team's hero in the matchup, as he had a sensational game. The 25-year-old goaltender put together a 24-save shutout in Providence's hard-fought win, and the series is now tied up at 1-1 because of it. With this being a best-of-three series, Providence needed this win, and DiPietro delivered big time.

DiPietro is continuing to find new ways to impress in what has been an outstanding season for the Aldege "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award winner. It will now be interesting to see how he builds off this incredible start from here.
