Bruins Provide Significant Charlie McAvoy Update

The Bruins have provided an update on Charlie McAvoy.

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

The Boston Bruins have provided an update on defenseman Charlie McAvoy. In their statement, the Original Six club confirmed that the star blueliner was admitted to Mass General Hospital and announced that McAvoy will not be in the lineup for Team USA's 4 Nations Face-Off championship against Team Canada on Feb. 20.

Here is the Bruins' full statement on McAvoy:

"Charlie was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital on Monday to undergo testing related to an upper-body injury sustained during the 4 Nations Face-Off and is currently being evaluated by Boston Bruins Head Team Physician Dr. Peter Asnis.

He will not play for Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off Championship Game on Thursday at TD Garden. The Boston Bruins will provide further updates on his condition and status as soon as they become available."

It is certainly tough to hear that McAvoy won't be in the lineup for Team USA for the club's championship contest against Team Canada. The Bruins' star defenseman was a rock on Team USA's blueline during the 4 Nations Face-Off. He provided Team USA with plenty of physicality, with his massive hit on Connor McDavid being the most memorable. It also led to Jake Guentzel tying the game up at 1-1, which was the first of Team USA's three unanswered goals in the win.

However, while this game is a big one, it is entirely understandable that McAvoy will be sitting. It is more important for him to focus on getting healthy. Here's to hoping that the Bruins defender has a smooth recovery and suffers no setbacks from here.
