Team USA & Bruins Get Troubling Charlie McAvoy Update

This is concerning news for the Bruins star.

Boston's Cam Neely Could Be Next On The Hot Seat

Following Feb. 17's contest against Team Sweden, Team USA head coach Mike Sullivan confirmed that Boston Bruins star defenseman McAvoy is dealing with an upper-body injury. This was after he was scratched for the contest.

"Charlie, obviously, right now he's out with an upper-body injury," Sullivan said. "We'll probably have more information tomorrow [Feb. 18] with those guys."

This is not the only update regarding McAvoy's injury, as the Boston Globe's Jim McBride reported that the Bruins blueliner was admitted to Mass General Hospital on Feb. 17.

Team USA is set to face off against Team Canada in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship on Feb. 20. With it being so close, we will need to wait and see if McAvoy is given the green light to play.

Team USA is dealing with multiple other injuries ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off final, too. Auston Matthews and Matthew Tkachuk were both out against Team Sweden. In addition, Brady Tkachuk exited USA's matchup against Sweden early due to injury, while Vincent Trocheck also suffered an injury of his own. The Rangers center, did, however, return to the game.

If this injury ends up sidelining McAvoy for a longer period of time, it would impact not only Team USA but also the Bruins. They return to game action on Feb. 22 against the Anaheim Ducks and are in a crucial part of the season. They need every point they can get to help their playoff odds, especially with them being below the line right now.

Here's to hoping that McAvoy's injury isn't too serious and that he is good to go for the 4 Nations Face-Off.
