The Boston Bruins recalled Ian Mitchell on Thursday with Matt Grzelcyk considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury sustained in Boston's 6-5 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Boston Bruins announced they recalled Ian Mitchell from AHL Providence on Thursday.
The 25-year-old defenseman has not played with Boston since Dec. 23. Mitchell made the opening night roster as the team's seventh defenseman out of training camp, but the emergences of Mason Lohrei and Parker Wotherspoon moved Mitchell back in the blue line pecking order.
The move comes after Matt Grzelcyk exited Wednesday's 6-5 overtime win against the Edmonton Oilers with a lower-body injury. Boston is expected to be without Grzelcyk and Hampus Lindholm -- its top two left-shot defensemen -- for Thursday's matchup against the Calgary Flames and beyond. Grzelcyk is considered day-to-day, while Lindholm is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
Mitchell has two assists in 13 NHL games this season, and he has 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 22 games with Providence.
