It's time for this Bruins forward to make up for his down season.

The Boston Bruins are gearing up for a big first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. These two Original Six clubs are very close in skill, and it has all the makings to be an entertaining series because of it.

If the Bruins hope to win their fourth series against the Maple Leafs since 2013, they will need each of their players to be on their A-games. This is especially true for Jake DeBrusk.

DeBrusk, 27, had a disappointing contract year, and there is naturally speculation about his future with the club because of it. In 80 games, the 2015 first-round pick had 19 goals, 40 points, and a plus-4 rating. While these are not bad offensive totals, they were lower than expected from the sniper, as he had 27 goals and 50 points in 64 games just last season.

Multiple long cold streaks are a big reason for DeBrusk's down year. He also ended the year with one, posting just one goal over his last 10 games. The Bruins need DeBrusk to break his ongoing cold streak immediately.

When playing at his best, DeBrusk is an impactful top-six forward. Now is the time for him to heat up, as it will surely help Boston's chances of getting by a tough Leafs club.
