Bruins Star Linked to Pacific Club

This Bruins forward is being linked to the Pacific Division.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

The Boston Bruins have a significant decision with Jake DeBrusk. The 2015 first-round pick is due for a new deal, and he will become a free agent if he does not get one from the Bruins by July 1.

With DeBrusk coming off an excellent postseason and being a 27-year-old top-six forward, he will have a ton of interest if he hits free agency. The Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings have already all been named potential suitors.

In Monday’s edition of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman named a new team being connected to DeBrusk – the Seattle Kraken.

Given how this season went for the Kraken, it would not be shocking if they tried to add a scorer like DeBrusk. Their top six needs a significant boost if they hope to become a playoff team again, and adding DeBrusk would give them just that.

DeBrusk would be a massive addition to the club’s first line with Matty Beniers and Jordan Eberle. However, he also could create some real magic on a line with Jared McCann. In either scenario, the Kraken’s top six would significantly improve with a DeBrusk signing.

We must now wait and see what happens with DeBrusk from here. The Kraken are only the latest team being viewed as a possible landing spot for him. However, if the Bruins were wise, they’d lock No. 74 up before he has any chance of leaving.
