Bruins' Jake DeBrusk Linked to 3 Teams

These three teams could be in the mix to sign Jake DeBrusk if he hits the market.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

Boston Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk is the Original Six club’s top free agents. The 27-year-old has made it clear that he is hopeful he will still re-sign with the Bruins, but at this time, he remains without a contract for next season.

The Bruins should certainly be open to the prospect of bringing back DeBrusk. He elevated his play big time during the playoffs, posting a team-leading five goals and 11 points in 13 games. With that, he is a top-six winger in his prime.

However, until a deal is finalized, DeBrusk’s future in Boston will not be set in stone. If he does hit the market, he will be a hot commodity, and three potential suitors have already been named for him.

According to The Fourth Period, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings could all express interest in DeBrusk if he hits the market.

DeBrusk signing with the Maple Leafs would be a nightmare for the Bruins. The Maple Leafs, of course, are the Bruins’ biggest rival right now, and losing one of their best players to them would sting. However, with the Leafs potentially set to make big changes, they could absolutely look to add an impactful winger like DeBrusk.

The Oilers have long been connected to DeBrusk. He is an Edmonton native, and his dad, Louie, played for the Oilers. This naturally should add to his appeal with the Oilers. However, the Oilers could use another top-six winger in general, too. Thus, Edmonton is surely a team to watch.

The Kings should look to improve their offense this summer as well. Viktor Arvidsson could hit the market, and he is one of their most impactful scorers. A player like DeBrusk would be an excellent replacement for him in their top six.
