This Bruins goalie will not be Team USA's starter.
The 4 Nations Face-Off is here, and it has the potential to be an incredibly entertaining tournament. Multiple Boston Bruins are playing in it, as Brad Marchand is on Team Canada, Elias Lindholm is with Team Sweden, and Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman made Team USA's roster.
However, Team USA has announced its starting goalie for their Feb. 13 game against Team Finland, and it will not be Swayman. Instead, Team USA will be going with Winnipeg Jets star goaltender Connor Hellebuyck as their starter.
As talented Swayman and Dallas Stars goalie Jake Oettinger are, it is understandable that Team USA has opted to go with Hellebuyck as their starter. Hellebuyck is having a spectacular season, as evidenced by his 34-7-2 record, 2.06 goals-against average, and .925 save percentage. He is coming off his second career Vezina Trophy win.
With this, Bruins fans will need to wait to see Swayman getting into his first game action for Team USA. In 40 games this season, the Anchorage, Alaska native has an 18-18-4 record, a .898 save percentage, and a 2.98 goals-against average.
