This defense pairing involving this Bruins star could be magnificent for Team USA.

The 4 Nations Face-Off is here, and it should be a great tournament. Charlie McAvoy is among the Boston Bruins players participating in the event, as he was named to Team USA's roster.

At Team USA's first practice, McAvoy formed an elite pairing with Columbus Blue Jackets star blueliner Zach Werenski.

This defense pairing has the potential to be a real home run for Team USA. McAvoy's hard-nosed defensive style of play mixed with Werenski's offense from the point could make this duo lethal. In addition, McAvoy's defensive ability should allow Werenski more freedom to take chances offensively.

    Charlie McAvoy & Zach Werenski

Werenski is in the middle of a spectacular season with Columbus, as he ranks second among all NHL defensemen with 17 goals and 59 points. McAvoy, on the other hand, has seven goals, 23 points, 81 blocks, and 89 hits in 50 games this season.

Overall, this pairing looks like a great fit on paper. It will be fascinating to see how McAvoy and Werenski perform in game action together from here.
