The Boston Bruins are a clear team to watch at the 2025 NHL trade deadline. President Cam Neely recently told reporters that the team could retool its roster, depending on how they before leading up to the deadline.
In a recent article for The Athletic, Fluto Shinzawa reported that an executive source said a Brad Marchand trade could occur if the Bruins "think it’ll help the team." In addition, Shinzawa's source said this when asked if No. 63 will be traded: "All bets are off."
Marchand, 36, is in the final season of his contract and will become a free agent if this remains the case on July 1. Thus, while he has spent the entirety of his 16-year career as a Bruin, questions about his future in Boston have naturally come up.
If the Bruins opted to shop Marchand closer to the deadline, there would undoubtedly be interest. This is because he is still an impactful player, as he has 17 goals and 37 points in 50 games this season. In addition, his $6.125 million cap hit is affordable for all he provides. He does have some trade protection, though, as he has an eight-team no-trade list.

At this point in the season, the Bruins have a 24-20-6 record and are third in the Atlantic Division with 54 points. However, they are far from a guaranteed playoff team, as the Tampa Bay Lightning (53 points), Ottawa Senators (52 points), and Montreal Canadiens (52 points) are all right behind them with multiple games in hand. Thus, they could very well end up being sellers if they struggle down the stretch.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what the Bruins decide to do with Marchand at the deadline. He is still an important part of their roster, but this is something to watch. Of course, if he signs an extension before the deadline, this would end all the trade chatter surrounding him.
