The Maple Leafs have acquired one of the Bruins' top trade targets.
Earlier today (March 7), the Boston Bruins were viewed as the potential frontrunner to land Joel Edmundson from the Washington Capitals. However, during trading season, things can change in the blink of an eye, and that has happened yet again.
Edmundson has been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a 2024 third-round pick (from the New York Islanders) and a 2025 fifth-round pick (from the Chicago Blackhawks).
This is tough news for the Bruins, as they not only missed out on Edmundson, but they did so to their potential first-round opponent. He should be a nice addition to a Maple Leafs club that needs more defensive depth.

The Bruins will now need to explore other options as they try to improve their group before the deadline. Some defensemen still available include Jakub Chychrun, Matt Dumba, and David Savard.
