This Bruins defenseman is expected to test the market.

The Boston Bruins have an array of players who can become free agents on July 1. Because of this, the Original Six club has some big decisions to make over the next month.
However, we have now gotten a big update regarding one of them: Derek Forbort. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Forbort is expected to test the free agent market and move on from the Bruins this summer.
Forbort, 32, just completed the three-year, $9 million contract he signed with the Bruins during the 2021 NHL Offseason. Overall, he proved to be a decent bottom-pairing shutdown defenseman for the club. However, this season did not treat him too kindly, as he dealt with plenty of injury trouble.

In 35 games with the Bruins this year, Forbort posted four assists, 65 blocks, 68 hits, and a plus-8 rating. He also returned from injury during the playoffs, appearing in three games.
With Parker Wotherspoon cementing a spot on the Bruins' bottom pairing and already being extended, it is not too surprising to hear that Forbort and the Bruins are expected to move on from each other.
While the 2023-24 season was rough for Forbort, he should still receive some interest around the league in free agency — teams always like 6-foot-4 defensemen who have experience and kill penalties.
