This former Bruin is viewed as having one of the worst contracts in the NHL.

During the 2013 NHL Offseason, the Boston Bruins made a major gaff, trading a young Tyler Seguin to the Dallas Stars. Seguin blossomed into a true star during his prime, while none of the pieces the Bruins received were long-term solutions for them. Loui Eriksson and Reilly Smith were decent but did not stay long and were nowhere as impactful as Seguin. Joe Morrow and Matt Fraser were also never able to become full-time players in Boston.
Seguin is still a solid second-liner at this juncture of his career, but he is no longer the true No. 1 center he became during his prime years. Injury trouble played a role in this. Because of this, in a recent article for The Athletic, Dom Luszczyszyn listed Seguin's contract as the 10th worst in the NHL.

Seguin carries a $9.85 million cap hit until the completion of the 2026-27 season. That is undoubtedly a massive cap hit for his role at this juncture of his career, so, understandably, his deal is currently viewed as one of the worst.
Seguin, 32, is still an effective NHL player, however. In 68 regular-season games this past season with the Stars, he posted 25 goals, 52 points, and a plus-10 rating. He also had five goals and 13 points in 19 games. With numbers like these, he is still quite solid, but his cap hit at this point is just too high.
