Charlie McAvoy welcomed this top prospect to the Bruins in a funny way.
Last month, the Boston Bruins selected forward Dean Letourneau with the 25th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Given their need for more depth down the middle, taking a shot on a 6-foot-7 center like Letourneau certainly has excited many Bruins fans.
Recently, on the Drop the Mitts Hockey podcast, Letourneau shared that Bruins star defenseman Charlie McAvoy immediately contacted him after being drafted. However, besides congratulating Letourneau, McAvoy added some humor through his welcome text.
Here's what Letourneau said on the matter: "I got a text from McAvoy after I got drafted. He’s a Boston University Terrier, so he was kind of just saying that he won’t hold it against me that I’m going to be an Eagle."

This was a funny way for McAvoy to introduce himself to Letourneau. McAvoy, of course, played two seasons with Boston University before joining the Bruins during their 2017 playoff run. Letourneau, on the other hand, is set to play his first season with BU's biggest rival, Boston College, in the next campaign.
The Bruins are hoping that Letourneau can follow in McAvoy's footsteps and grow his game immensely at the collegiate level. The Bruins have had their success with NCAA prospects, and it will be intriguing to see what happens with Letourneau on that front.
Letourneau spent last season with St. Andrew's College, posting 61 goals and 127 points in 56 games.
