This Bruins forward is only continuing to improve.
The Boston Bruins secured an impressive 6-3 win over the New York Rangers on Feb. 1. This win was much-needed for the Bruins, as they were blown out in each of their two previous games.
Bruins forward Matthew Poitras played a notable role in the team's victory. The 20-year-old forward had the primary assists on two of David Pastrnak's three goals in the contest.
Both of Poitras' assists were nice, too. During his first one, he spun the puck behind the net before setting up Pastrnak with a perfect feed in front. Poitras' second assist was also good, as he grabbed a loose puck in the offensive zone before Pastrnak one-timed his pass home.
It was excellent to see Poitras have a multi-point game during a big Original Six matchup. The young forward showed off his playmaking skills and was confident with the puck. These elements of his game are why he is viewed as a promising prospect in Boston's system.

After this strong performance, it would not be surprising in the slightest if Poitras continues to receive significant opportunities with the Bruins. With Boston being in a tight playoff race and needing as many points as possible, it would be massive if Poitras puts together more games like these.
Overall, since being called back up to the NHL roster, Poitras has shown the Bruins that he belongs. In nine games with the Bruins since his call-up, he now has five points. This is after he had four points in his first 14 games this season with Boston before being sent down.
