Former Boston Bruins forward Rob DiMaio has landed a big gig.
On Tuesday, the Ottawa Senators hired DiMaio as their new Director of Player Personnel and Professional Scouting.
DiMaio spent each of the last two seasons as the Anaheim Ducks' assistant general manager. Now, he will take on another big role with the Senators as they try to become a playoff team again.
DiMaio comes with plenty of scouting experience. Before his stint with the Ducks, he worked with the St. Louis Blues for 13 years. In 2008, he joined the Central Division squad as a professional scout. Then, in 2012, he was named the Blues' Director of Pro Scouting. In this position, he played a pivotal role in the Blues winning their Stanley Cup in 2019.
With the Senators looking to finally take that next step and be a playoff team again, hiring a highly experienced figure like DiMaio looks like a great move on paper.
DiMaio, 56, also spent 17 years as a player in the NHL. In 894 career games split between the New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Philadelphia Flyers, Bruins, New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Dallas Stars, he had 106 goals and 277 points.
Rob DiMaio DiMaio spent four NHL seasons as a Bruin, posting 35 goals, 97 points, and 301 penalty minutes in 272 games.
